SlowBirth is a collective of grassroots healing justice practitioners and projects rooted in reciprocity, relationship building and re-indigenizing healing practice.
Our approach
SlowBirth is creating and facilitating spaces for direct access to healing and reproductive care by funding, organizing and operating grassroots initiatives led by queer and trans People of the Greater Majority (BIPOC), based in the principles of Healing Justice.
Our Initiatives
The People’s Holistic Clinic
(San Diego)
A grassroots healing justice community clinic offering no-cost holistic healing services such as chiropractic care, acupuncture, fire cupping, bodywork and more to communities of the global majority.
All our providers are People of the Greater Majority. We intentionally offer our clinics in Black and Brown neighborhoods that are historically underserved and oppressed by the medical industrial complex.
We are currently seeking partnerships with organizations that can sponsor community clinics across San Diego County.
Sacred Birth Project
The Sacred Birth Project supports families in the birthing experience that they seek in which medical insurance does not cover.
Our focus is on Indigenous and Black birthing people. We match doulas from our Community Birthwork School with families in San Diego.
